As soon as computers were invented, scientists and engineers began to explore the possibility of creating machines that could think for themselves. Alan Turing proposed the Turing test in 1950, a famous test of a machine's ability to exhibit intelligent behaviour.

Since then, AI has achieved numerous milestones, including defeating the best human chess player (1997), the best human go player (2015) and solving complex protein structures with unprecedented accuracy (2018).

Following the public release of ChatGPT on 30 November 2022, there has been an explosion of interest in AI, particularly generative systems to create text or images. But how do these systems work? How revolutionary are these new technologies? And what are the ethical, social and political challenges AI platforms raise?

Join our expert speakers on an engaging journey through Artificial Intelligence, its current power, its potential and its risks.

At this Instant Expert, you will explore:

  • The history of AI
  • The different types of AI
  • How Large Language Models such as Chat-GPT work
  • The ethics of AI systems
  • The future of AI
